Luxury Car Rental in Zurich

Your Gateway to the Swiss Alps

A lakeside city of precision and style, with legendary mountain passes waiting beyond.

From Lakeshore to Mountain Pass

Zurich runs with Swiss precision, and that extends to the way it rewards drivers. The city combines a compact old town and the luxury boutiques of Bahnhofstrasse with a lake that stretches southeast toward the Alps, and the mountains begin less than an hour away. Zurich Airport (ZRH) is only about 10 km north of the center, and many visitors stay at the Baur au Lac by the lake or The Dolder Grand above the city. Veobooker provides luxury car rental in Zurich with pick-up arranged around your arrival, whether you’re in town for meetings, a ski weekend or a summer of Alpine passes.

Driving from Zurich is a little like working through levels, each one more spectacular than the last. Start gently with the road along the eastern shore of Lake Zurich, the so-called Gold Coast, to the medieval town of Rapperswil about 35 minutes away, an elegant cruise in the Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe. The next step is the Klausen Pass, around an hour and a quarter from the city, where 136 curves link the cantons of Glarus and Uri and the all-wheel drive of the Nissan GT-R feels right at home. Then comes the classic: the loop over the Furka, Grimsel and Susten passes, starting from Andermatt, with hairpins, glaciers and the stretch of road made famous by the James Bond film Goldfinger. Here, a compact and agile car like the Audi RS3 Performance is easier to place on narrow mountain roads than a wider supercar. In winter, the destination changes to St. Moritz and the Engadin, about three hours away. The Land Rover Defender or Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 brings confidence on snowy roads and room for skis and luggage.

Switzerland is a pleasure to drive in, as long as you follow its rules. Roads are superbly maintained and clearly signposted, even on the smallest mountain routes. Speed limits are lower than in neighboring countries, typically 120 km/h on highways, 80 km/h on rural roads and 50 km/h in towns. Enforcement is famously strict, with fines starting at CHF 40 for exceeding the limit by just a few km/h. The high Alpine passes are closed in winter and usually reopen between late May and June, so check their status before setting off. In Zurich itself, trams have priority, street parking is limited and often time-restricted, and hotel valet services or public garages are the easiest option. And on a clear day, the Alps line up across the far end of the lake, close enough to make every free weekend feel like an invitation.
